I never have gone to Aperature and found the building it was in to be confusing at first.the show was about dutch landscape in the contemporary society. much different from the paintings of Ruisdael. The gallery space was very european in its feel and it reminded me of Artist Space located in Soho. And plus they also had restrooms. that was amazing. the faucets made weird noises from what i remember.
Maya Lin at the Pace gallery's 2nd location was fun and required a lot of work to assemble. i dont know if those are the feeling s that she wanted the viewer to have upon the first viewing of the piece but it was inescapable. it reminded me of other structural work i had seen but less fun. it was dry and though i Know she had created the idea for the vietnam war memorial i do feel her work is lifeless.
the best thing you saw you knew you were going to be amazed by so don't even mentioning it (James Turrell)
